The sting and soundtracks

Sound is half the format — the urgent intro sting triggers the "breaking news" reflex before a single word has typed itself. Here's how audio works in Breaking News Maker.

The intro sting (free)

Every plan includes the breaking-news intro sting: the dramatic, stabbing intro notes that open the broadcast. It's synthesized in your browser with the Web Audio API — an original composition, not a sample of any real network's jingle. That keeps every export copyright-clean: no content ID claims, no muted uploads.

The sting is mixed into the export's audio track at the exact frame the broadcast opens, so the file is post-ready — no syncing in an editing app.

Custom soundtracks (Pro)

Pro adds soundtrack upload: lay your own audio under the broadcast — tense newsroom music, a meme song, a voice memo of the "correspondent". Common audio formats (MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG) work, and the track plays for the video's full 8 seconds.

Like everything else, your audio file is read locally and mixed on your device. It is never uploaded.

Ducking: how the mix works

When a soundtrack and the sting are both on, the mix behaves like a real broadcast: the soundtrack ducks (drops in volume) while the sting hits, then rises back to full level as the sting tails off. You don't configure anything — the duck is timed to the sting automatically, so the opening always cuts through.

Prefer music only? Turn the sting off and the soundtrack plays at full level throughout. Silence is also an option, but sound-on exports dramatically outperform muted ones on TikTok and Reels — see why sound matters.

A note on rights

Use music you have the right to use. Platforms' content-matching runs on whatever you upload to them — the synthesized sting is safe everywhere, but a commercial track in your soundtrack is between you and the platform.
