Terms of Service

Last updated: August 27, 2026

1. The service

Breaking News Maker is a browser-based tool for creating animated parody breaking-news videos and images — typewriter headlines, scrolling tickers, station styles and sound, exported as MP4 (WebM fallback) or PNG. Everything renders locally in your browser. The editor is free to try; exporting requires signing in with a free Google account. We offer a free plan and a paid Pro subscription ($4.99/month) — the current limits and features of each are described on the pricing page and may evolve over time.

2. Parody only — acceptable use

Breaking News Maker exists for parody, humour and entertainment. The output is designed to look like a broadcast, which is exactly why what you make with it matters. You agree not to use it to:

  • create or spread content that is unlawful, defamatory or likely to cause distress;
  • present fabricated news as genuine — to mislead the public, manipulate markets, influence elections or fabricate evidence;
  • impersonate a real news organization, journalist or broadcaster, including recreating a real network's branding with the custom station builder;
  • harass, threaten or harm real people, or target private individuals without their consent;
  • commit or facilitate fraud, scams or phishing.

Keep your parody obviously parody. You are solely responsible for the content you create and how you use and share it. We may suspend or terminate accounts used in violation of these terms.

3. Your content

Everything you create with Breaking News Maker is yours. Because the tool renders locally in your browser, we never receive, store or claim any rights over your headlines, media or exports. You are responsible for having the rights to any photos, video clips or audio you use in your projects.

4. No network affiliation

The station styles in Breaking News Maker are original designs. Breaking News Maker is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any news organization, and deliberately does not include any real network's name, logo or branding. The synthesized intro sting is an original composition and does not sample any broadcaster's audio.

5. Plans, billing and cancellation

Pro subscriptions are billed monthly through PayPal. You can cancel at any time from your PayPal account or by contacting us; you keep Pro access until the end of the period you paid for and are not charged again. Refunds are handled per our refund policy. We may change plan pricing or limits with reasonable notice; changes do not retroactively affect a period you already paid for.

6. No warranty

The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. We do our best to keep it fast and reliable, but we don't guarantee uninterrupted availability, and features may change or break as the product evolves.

7. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Breaking News Maker and its creator are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential damages arising from your use of the service, or from content you or others create with it.

8. Termination

You can stop using the service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms — in particular the acceptable-use rules in section 2 — with or without notice depending on severity. Terminated accounts are not entitled to refunds for the current billing period, as described in the refund policy.

9. Changes

We may update these terms as the product evolves; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
